| Family recipe for a Gingerbread house | |
| 1 1/4 cups | Brown Sugar, packed |
| 3/4 cup | Corn Syrup, dark (or Molasses) |
| 1/2 cup | Milk |
| 1/2 cup | Butter or Margarine |
| 1 Tblspn | Cinnamon |
| 1 Tblspn | Ginger, ground |
| 1 tsp | Cloves, ground |
| 5 cups + 1 cup | Flour |
| 1 Tblspn | Baking Soda |
| Directions: |
To a medium pot add sugar, corn syrup and water. Melt to a boil over medium heat. Add butter, allow butter to melt. Remove from heat and let cool (1-2 hours). Once luke warm, mix in cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Then once cool mix in 5 cups flour and baking soda. Add a little flour on top, cover with a towel and let sit for 12 hours. Roll it out with additional flour to prevent it sticking and cut out the parts of the house (see below for a template). Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. |
