Welcome To Folsom Photo (aka Weise's World)

I created Folsomphoto.com because I enjoy photography and at one point I was hoping to start a hobby website with photo's I took around town.

But, while i enjoy photography still, I never got fully into the hobby so instead this has become a family website...

This weekend we concluded the summer rec swim season by attending the Meet Of Champs. It was fun to go to, very similar to the Marlins meets we’ve attended already. Really it was just great that Christian is swimming so good that he qualified to attend. I honestly didn’t expect him to place well, after all this is an all-star meet and even in our league Christian isn’t in the top 10 for any event --- but it’s the type of meet that you go to because you can and because he wants to swim more. He was very proud to have earned the chance to attend and wanted to go. As mentioned previously he qualified for Backstroke (by time) and Long Free (by being in the finals at our league Champs meet) and they allow swimmers to pick one more event --- but either they changed their mind or had the sign-ups wrong as we were able to sign-up for one more event per day. So Christian was able to swim in backstroke and short free on Saturday and long free and butterfly on Sunday. He got close to his best times in each event and just had fun swimming. A great way to end the season.

It’s over... As we were packing up Christian said he didn’t want to go because it meant an end to the official swim season. He simply loves swimming and loves the Sea Otters. He did well, made finals in the Long Free (which also means he gets to swim another event at Meet of Champs!!) but he messed up on backstroke and hit the lane lines going across the pool which made him stutter. It happens. He also improved his Breast Stroke by about 4.5 seconds! A nice way to end the season!

Time flies ~ it’s already time for the expander to come out. I was worried about how things would go with it and it was a breeze. No problems, no pain, no complaints, no issues. He’s changed his bite, his mouth/jaw does look better... At this time he did not get braces put into place, but they left the bands in place and will re-evaluate his mouth in the middle of August and see if he is ready for them or if he needs them at all. Christian is excited about braces, but life would be so much easier if he didn’t get them so I’m hoping he doesn’t need them at all!

This is our second year attending the cub scouts day camp --- last year Christian got to do BB Guns and swimming. This year we were told he was scheduled to do the other 2 activities, Archery and Crafts. Unfortunately they printed the wrong information on the schedules so instead of going with what everyone thought they were doing, the organizers went with the incorrectly printed schedules. So after the confusion settled down we ended up back at BB Guns again and we did get to do Crafts. Despite the confusion it was a fun day. Not too hot, the kids were great and we’re looking forward to next year when he’ll be attending as a Webelo and the camp is during the week so he’ll be able to do all activities.

WOW! Did I say we were swimming well this year and that I never thought we’d be in the “fast” category of swimming… Well, today Christian proved me wrong yet again! Today he qualified for Meet of Champs! It’s an all-star swim meet that you qualify for in an event by either swimming a fast qualifying time for that event or by reaching the finals at our league Champs for that event! Today Christian swam the 25-yard Backstroke in 22.30 seconds, the MoC time is 22.50! He did it!! I’m so proud of him, he’s doing great!! Guess we have another swim meet we’ll be attending!!
