Welcome To Folsom Photo (aka Weise's World)

I created Folsomphoto.com because I enjoy photography and at one point I was hoping to start a hobby website with photo's I took around town.

But, while i enjoy photography still, I never got fully into the hobby so instead this has become a family website...

Happy Independence Day!! We had a great day today, grandma came up yesterday and is staying for a few days, grandpa and Dennis and Nadine (family from Germany) came up for the day. We enjoyed a good lunch with Sausage and sandwiches, lots of swimming, relaxing outside and visiting. I made tri-tip for dinner with roasted veggies and it all turned out great! Grandpa, Dennis and Nadine went home to watch fireworks at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds while grandma stayed with us and we let off fireworks in front of the house. It was a great day with lots of fun times!

Yesterday one of Christian’s swim coaches was arrested… Apparently he got caught in a sting involving child predators. Not a good situation, he’s been one of Christian’s coaches for four years. Took some time to talk to Christian to make sure nothing happened between this coach and him. Nothing bad happened to us or any other Sea Otter… Will never understand the choices some people make, he seemed like a good kid. Perhaps just misguided, I don’t know. It’s a crazy world…

What a difference a year makes! If you recall from last year, Christian was a bit out of control and didn’t even remember to wish me a Happy Birthday or a Happy Father’s Day. I didn’t have a fun 40th, but the 41st turned out to be much better.

We celebrated on over the weekend along with Fathers Day. We had a swim meet that morning and grandma/pa came up during the meet and saw most of Christian’s events. It was a hot day so after the swim meet we came home and relaxed and went for an early dinner to Elephant Bar and Grill, always a great place to eat. Then on Sunday Ken and Evan joined us for the day. We had Swedish pancakes for breakfast, relaxed and swam and BBQ’d dinner and everyone went home early and Christian and I relaxed that night. Then on Tuesday Christian remembered to wish me a Happy Birthday.

Baseball is an interesting sport for us... Christian is too active to be able to withstand playing it for any sort of duration. He does fine the first half of the season, but then it starts to wear on him. He enjoys the sport when he's actively part of the game but there is too much inactivity. Toward the end of the season he would be assigned to an outfield position near the end of the games (everyone rotates) and he would basically stop playing --- enough to where the coach needed to pull him out of the game! He was glad when it was over and I don't think he'll want to do it again next year... One less activity for us is probably a good thing --- of
course, that may open things up to try something else!

Three years ago when we started swimming Christian was always swimming in the latter heats (meaning he was slow). I expected improvement but I never thought we'd be competing with the fastest swimmers and earning points for the team --- but it looks like we'll be in that position this year! Christian is the second fastest at Backstroke, 3rd in Butterfly, 4th in Short (25 yard) and long (50 yard) free and 6th in breast for his age. Wow, what a great change, he keeps getting better and it's a lot fun to watch. He's very motivated and dedicated to swimming, loving every moment!
